Fördergelder
Durch verschiedene Fonds und Programme fördert die SAMW, meist in Zusammenarbeit mit privaten Stiftungen, wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs und Forschung in bestimmten Bereichen. Wenn nicht durch ein Legat vorgegeben, sind es Forschungsfelder, die für die Entwicklungen der Medizin und des Gesundheitswesens in der Schweiz wichtig, aber noch wenig etabliert sind.

Scientific Events
Nach Evaluation des Instruments «Scientific Events» Ende 2018 hat die SAMW beschlossen, ihre finanzielle Unterstützung neu auszurichten und nur noch Veranstaltungen Dritter zu unterstützen, die der strategischen Ausrichtung der Akademie entsprechen. Das Instrument «Scientific Events» wurde aufgehoben.
Swiss Personalized Health Network
Im Auftrag des Bundes leitet die SAMW die Umsetzung der Initiative «Swiss Personalized Health Network» (SPHN). Das SPHN trägt zur Entwicklung, Implementierung und Validierung einer koordinierten Dateninfrastruktur bei, um gesundheitsrelevante Daten schweizweit für die Forschung interoperabel und gemeinsam nutzbar zu machen. 2019 gab es keine Ausschreibung für Projektgesuche und somit keine neuen Zusprachen.
